Sprint KRZR Update

So I decided to go with the Motorola KRZR over the a900m and the RAZR. It wasnt really that easy though. So I decide im just going to go ahead and get the phone today and I call up the Sprint store to see if they have it in stock and a nice lady said yes. I wanted to make sure they had it before I drove over there. Once I got into the store the store manager walked up to me and I told him that I wanted the KRZR. He told me its not out yet, its been out for a few days now BTW. One of the other workers overheard and said, oh we have them, we just haven’t put them out yet.

The manager went to the back and came back with the phone in his hand. HE asked if I wanted to hold it and I said no, I just want to buy it. He was confused, I guess he has never had anyone in their that knew what they wanted?!? He then went to the back and picked up the phone in a new box and we walked over to the counter.

Im at the counter for about 30 minutes, some small chat, and then he says he cant sell me the phone because I have the SERO account and a company discount. He told me I have to call telesales and they can do it for me. I was still okay at this point and called telesales once I walked out the door.

Telesales fixes something in my account and after being on hold for 20-30 minutes I can order the phone. So now im getting the phone delivered to me in 7-9 days. But wait, the telesales guy didnt ask where I wanted the phone shipped and I just rented out my house to college kids. The last thing I wanted was my phone ending up there with someone signing for it and either it would sit on a counter somewhere or I would never see it. I asked for him to switch my address, “oh that cant be done”, then cancel my order, “that cant be done either”. Sprint’s suggestion is to call UPS. WTF!

I start yelling at the guy now. I dont think I have ever cursed at someone before and then I do. How can Sprint not be able to cancel and order? How can they not change an address? Are you kidding me? Im put on hold again and then he comes back and says my only option is to call UPS. I say no its not, cancel my f&ing account. I dont want the phone now. The guy transfers me to cancelations and im pissed.

I start off by apologizing for being upset but this is unbelievable that they cannot change or cancel the order. Oh BTW im paying 50 bucks more than I would of in the store but I didnt really care at the time. The lady is very nice and fixes everything right away. What I dont understand is why and how this happens.

  • I went to the store to get the phone now for 199.99, after 30 min they cant do it because of something in my account. (my account is in good standing, it is a technical problem on their end).
  • I called telesales and ordered the phone for 249.99, then they cannot change the address or cancel the order
  • I was transferred to the cancellation dept and the VERY nice lady fixed everything and gave me a 25 buck credit for the problems (I did’nt ask for this).

So after 3 hours and a small tirade the phone is being shipped to me. Was that all really necessary?

**Update - they sent the phone to the wrong address**

**Update - I think this phone is a bit over rated. Freezing Issues. I may return it and get the Treo 700wx**

**Update - I did end up asking to return the phone, they will send me a return pack. After 3 weeks and still no return pack I call up and ask if I can just return the phone to the store and according to her I can. So the next day before I hop on a plane I go to the nearest Sprint store and guess what, they wont take it back. It has to be returned through telesales where I ordered it.

A very long story short I have a 700wx I purchased off craigslist, still waiting for my credit on the original KRZR and am not in a 2 year contract. Overall I’m still somehow happy with Sprint but this could of been so much easier.

AD**As the cell phone becomes more and more complex learning as much about them as possible before buying one can be a big help.

i had almost the exact same experience:

“I went to the store to get the phone now for 199.99, after 30 min they cant do it because of something in my account.
I called telesales and ordered the phone for 249.99, then they cannot change the address or cancel the order
I was transferred to the cancellation dept and the VERY nice lady fixed everything and gave me a 25 buck credit for the problems (I did’nt ask for this).”

i had free text messaging on my samsung. i lost it and had insurance so i wanted the krzr. long story short it went from a 200 dollar phone with 200 in insurance and no, its a youve been sprints bitch long enuf so we -200 from 400. basically.
oh. and i pay for my text messages now.
thanx!! free NFL tv? shove it! a text message is like 2 kilobytes. but free streaming video.

oh yeah, and then i get charged 20 bucks for texts cause i had the phone shipped to me and i made my plan on the phone… dude gave me 20 texts for a plan. not the 300 for 5 bucks. so like the overages and fixing them took a nice dink outta my afternoon. theres 3 departments. the first is the credit card takers. thats all they can do. ‘customer service’ is technical. they dont do plans… you want to talk to the “managers”.

hell yeah overrated. you know how long it takes to load a gig of music?

I feel ya on this. It all scares me and I just let my gf take care of all of this crap.

One issue though: “…they can’t do it because of something in my account….” I wish this were phrased differently. If you can’t describe what exactly this something was/is, at least modify it by saying it wasn’t anything illegal, and it didn’t have anything to do with you owing them money.

    Just curious. No biggie.

BTW, have you ever noticed how almost always these glitches or somethings just happen to work in the company’s favor? And do you think these huge corps pay off the govt to keep things fuzzily working in their favor?

Of course I’m not typing anything new here, but when are we gonna figure it out? When are we as a nation gonna tie these occurences together on November 2nd and just not vote?

If we start figuring it out, soon there’ll be 10% of us voting. Then 5%. Then 1%. Pretty soon they’ll have to pay “cool” looking people to vote, then video them walking into the polls and put those vids on tv, just to try to generate more voters. THEN, when they pay me to vote, then is when I’ll vote. But I don’t look cool, so it’s a moot point. Hehe.

Oh I hear all of you. My issues with sprint are a joke. I absolutely hate my KRZR (sprints version anyway)and would advise strongly against it. The menus are a joke. It takes forever to do anything with it. Texting is ridiculous. Menus freeze all the time. It gets scratched up way too easy. I had a sweet family plan that was about two and a half years old and when I activated the KRZR my whole plan changed because the KRZR does not use the old PCS network. BTW they did not tell me this stuff would change. So a week later when I see the new charges I get on the phone with sprint and get transferred around and put on hold like always until I tell them to cancel my plan. Then of course the cancellation people add all kinds of credits to my account to compensate for what I used to have. I hate sprint and have had so many issues with them. If you ever want ANYTHING done don’t waste your time explaining it to anyone other than cancellation. They are the only ones with power to do anything, and trust me they can do anything you ask them to. Summary: KRZR sucks, sprint sucks.

Problems with my Sprint Motorola KRZR

Slow- When I press any button it takes 3 seconds for it to even show on the screen.

Freezes- When the Power Off key won’t even work, I have to remove the battery and restart the phone.

Inconsistent Web- The Web only work 50% of the time. In order for it to work, I have to Power Off and restart the phone.

Dropped Calls- In 4 years of service I have NEVER experienced as many dropped calls as I have with the KRZR. Weak internal antenna.

Poor Voice Quality- I have to hang up and recall at least one outgoing call per day due to a strange robotic voice. This happens with both incoming and outgoing calls.

Network Issues- I had unlimited texts with my Samsung for two and a half years. When I activated the KRZR my whole plan changed because the KRZR does not use the old PCS network. No one at Sprint notified me of this when I purchased my new KRZR. I used to pay $15/month for unlimited web, text and photos. I now pay $20/month for web that only works 50% of the time, ridiculously slow texting and photos that never send due to the network. Did I mention the camera on this phone doesn’t even have a flash? This results in VERY POOR picture quality.

Missed Calls- Every single day I have missed calls that never even rang on my KRZR.

Inability to Connect- I will attempt to place an outgoing call and all I get is silence, no ringing or connection. Sometimes it takes up to three attempts to place an outgoing call.

Delayed Voicemail- Why does it take 24 hours for voicemail to come through? I consistently get a voicemail icon with multiple new messages the day AFTER the messages were left on my KRZR.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can resolve this issue? I am under contract and Sprint is unwilling to help.

Yeah, I would switch to verizon. They have the best service, no I don’t sell them, however I do design cellular towers!

I can relate to all of you on your issues with the sprint KRZR. I’ve had mine for about 2 months now, it freezes on me all the time. Sometimes i’ll be talking on the phone when i get a text and my phone will hang up the call! WTF! i cant wait to get rid of this piece of crap! the outside design of the KRZR is awsome; however, the keypad is too small and makes it hard for me to text!!

I agree with most things said here. The Moto KRZR is the WORST most poorly designed piece of shxt I have ever used.

It sucks, because people will see it, and go “NICE PHONE!!” because it looks pimpin… but yeah. Try and use it, and it’s a whole nother story. I’m ready to go back to the free phone that WORKED.

This phone stinks and the Verizon store in Reston has terrible service. The phone freezes, stops ringing, and is painfully slow between functions. Don’t purchase if you are in the market - you WILL be disappointed.

Calling on my Sprint cell phone, my call is dropped after being on hold for 15 minutes. Instead of trying again from the end of the queue, I call Sprint and ask what’s the matter with their service, and they tell me I need to do an “update”, so my phone can connect with all the towers in the area. “If you haven’t taken your battery out lately for at least 2 mintues, that’s probably your problem.” ?!?! That’s a pretty lame excuse for crummy service, no?

All of this is true, at first i though my fone was slow due to an accident but no its always slow & it totally sucks. I cant do anything else if i want to listen to music. Friends make fun of me because of the trash i bought.
